Oct. 28, 2025
Welcome to the 2025-26 academic year! It seems like just a few days ago we were saying goodbye to the Spring semester and now here we are beginning the Fall semester. I hope everyone enjoyed their summer the way they planned.
The Faculty Senate had its Kickoff Retreat, Tuesday, August 19, 2025. Our major goal is to improve our culture and climate at UNLV.
As your new Faculty Senate Chair, I would like to reaffirm that the Faculty Senate remains committed to diversity throughout the university.
Our Faculty Senate DEI Committee made a presentation last year in favor of keeping their name and mission. The Faculty Senate overwhelmingly voted in favor of retaining the name and mission.
Our culture includes our values, customs, symbols, and beliefs regarding our organization. One important value is the application of theory to practice in our many different programs in order to prepare our students for the real world.
In the time of threats to many in our community, we are especially proud of our immigration clinic, directed by our Vice Chair of the Faculty Senate, Michael Kagan. The clinic epitomizes our commitment to the practice of fairness, diversity, and modeling of our values.
Thank you for your hard work in preparing for the school year. I wish you all a productive and rewarding year.
