The Association for Women in Science (AWIS) is now accepting applications for its 2026 Scholarship Program, an excellent opportunity to support and celebrate women scholars at every stage of their STEM career. Applications are due on February 28Through AWIS, established members gain opportunities for leadership and visibility, connection with peers navigating similar professional challenges, and meaningful, reciprocal mentorship, along with recognition through awards, honors, and speaking opportunities.

AWIS also provides a platform to help shape the future of women in science, including through engagement with headquarter's resources such as scholarships and awards that are currently open, which play a critical role in supporting students and early-career scientists and rely on the leadership and participation of our senior members.

Below are the 2026 AWIS Scholarships available this cycle:
  • Undergraduate Scholarships ($2,000–$2,500): Supporting first-generation college students and undergraduate STEM majors, including physics and geoscience.
  • Distinguished Doctoral Research Scholarship ($10,000): Honoring PhD candidates whose dissertation research shows exceptional promise and impact.
  • Career Re-Entry Scholarships (up to $2,500): Empowering women returning to STEM careers after a break.
AWIS Membership (Requirement for scholarship applications)
To apply for one of these distinctive scholarships, applicants must be a member of the AWIS organization and meet all scholarship requirements. The College of Sciences is proud to fund the $35 membership fee for up to 10 undergraduate science students who are seeking to apply to a scholarship this cycle.

Please do not pay the membership fee yourself if you are interested in this funding opportunity.

The AWIS Nevada local chapter is also here to support your application along the way.
