Why did you choose UNLV for your School Counseling degree?

UNLV was a no-brainer for me. Its strong reputation, along with positive recommendations from friends and colleagues who attended, made the decision easy. I wanted to experience the Rebel community for myself, and I’m proud to have advanced my education and earned my Master’s degree in School Counseling from UNLV.

What are the current challenges and trends in your field?

Trends and challenges are constantly evolving, and we have to adapt and respond with intention. The most important priority right now is student mental health. Students are navigating complex challenges, and school counselors are often on the front lines. We need to be equipped to help students process what they are carrying and build resilience.

What advice do you have for current UNLV students?

Treat your time at UNLV like an all-you-can-eat buffet; this is Vegas after all. Try a little bit of everything because you never know what might shape your path later in life. At the same time, make sure you enjoy the experience. Laugh more, stress less, and remember that enjoying the journey matters as much as academic success.
