What led you to pursue a degree in education/human services?

I had such a great elementary school experience growing up. I loved all of my teachers, especially my first grade teacher. They were incredibly caring and supportive, they encouraged me to become the best version of myself. Their impact on my life inspired me from a young age to want to become a teacher and make that same difference for future students.

How did UNLV prepare you for your career?

UNLV prepared me through coursework, professors, and the support system available. Even in classes I struggled with, my professors were always willing to help, and overall I felt very supported throughout the process. The networking opportunities I found at UNLV also played a huge part in helping me begin teaching right after graduation.

What do you wish you knew when you were a student?

I wish I understood that not everything you learn in college is exactly how things will look once you become a teacher. Every school is different, every community is different, and every group of students is different. You learn so much once you actually step into your own classroom.
