Grab a snack, catch up with friends, or just relax. You can do it all at the Student Union.
COVID-19 Update (7/28/2020)
The UNLV Student Union is currently closed, but will re-open on a limited basis beginning Monday, August 10, 2020 (revised). Building hours will be Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. Here are some pieces of information that will guide our re-opening:
The facility will be open primarily for UNLV students, staff and faculty. Guests will be allowed into the building to do their immediate business and then must depart. Guests and non-UNLV patrons will not be allowed to loiter or linger in the building.
A single entrance on the north side of the building will be utilized for access. UNLV students, faculty and staff will need to swipe their Rebel ID Card to gain entry. Beginning 8/24/2020, limited entrances will still be utilized but ID cards will not be checked. Staff will be checking for mask/face covering use prior to entering the facility.
We expect limited food service options to be open – SoHo Sushi Burrito, Panda Express, and a coffee “food truck” on the north end of the building. Additional food service options will open on 8/17 and 8/24 to serve campus' needs.
Face masks and social distancing is REQUIRED within the facility for all students, staff, faculty, and guests. Furnishings are set to maintain social distancing and may not be moved.
UNLV Employees will be required to wear masks while working in the facility.
Offices and departments may have limited services and hours. Check offices or their webpages for additional information.
Student-based offices such as CSUN, the Scarlet & Gray Free Press newspaper, and GPSA will provide their own notifications on how to reach their services and contact their staff.
The Student Union and Aramark custodial staff will do our best to frequently sanitize surfaces in the building.
As always, racism or xenophobia are not consistent with the values of the Student Union and will not be tolerated. “Mask shaming” or other similar acts are not conducive to our values and will be followed up with.
The Information Desk will be open, but the Game Room will remain closed. The enclosed 227 and 228 student lounges will reopen in a limited capacity beginning 8/24/20 with social distancing in effect.
There will be specific rules in place for safety – including elevators, lines for offices/food outlets, etc. Guests to the Student Union will be asked to follow these safety guidelines. Signs will be posted.
Events are extremely limited. At the time of this update, meetings of 50 or more are not allowed in-person and virtual meetings are still the preferred method. For our meetings held in the facility, Student Union & Event Services’ staff will sanitize furnishings and equipment between meetings. No gathering for meetings in hallways should take place.
It is the event sponsor’s responsibility for UNLV events to enforce COVID-19 safety protocols and social distancing.
"Phase 3" reopening will take place at a future date when UNLV and the state of Nevada indicates it is safe to do so.
We encourage everyone to follow CDC and governmental guidelines regarding safety and health. For more information about the UNLV response, go to the main UNLV page.
Please be safe and let us know if you have any questions.
