Jill Zimbelman was named executive assistant for the vice president in September 2013 after joining UNLV's Division of Research and Economic Development in May 2012 as an intellectual property coordinator. In her current position, she serves as an office manager for the vice president handling day-to-day operations while continuing to provide intellectual property support to the Office of Technology Transfer and the UNLV Research Foundation. Zimbelman has more than eight years of experience in intellectual property. She started her career at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, where she served as an operations/data coordinator for Mayo Clinic Ventures prior to moving to Las Vegas. After high school, self-determination led Zimbelman to enlist in the U.S. Army to serve her country and get an education, and she is proud to be an Iraq war veteran. Zimbelman graduated from Winona State University with two undergraduate degrees in business administration and human resources management in 2007 and Cardinal Stritch University with a master's degree in business administration in 2009. In her free time, Zimbelman enjoys doing anything active, spending time with friends and family, and volunteering in the community, especially for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where she serves as the Community Outreach Chair on the Board of Directors for the Nevada Chapter In-Formation.
