Joanna Jesiers

Joanna Jezierska genuinely believes in the power of education, and she often quotes Bob Herbert, who said: “If education collapses, so will the nation.” Education has been the focus and passion of her life. The unique combination of her international educational background, academic training, and professional experience at multiple levels of higher education prepared her to better serve young generations of students and to pursue career as a higher education administrator.

Jezierska is the director of the Multicultural Program for Engineering, Sciences, Integrated Health Sciences, Community Health Sciences, and Nursing. She has worked in the NSHE system since 2004. Before coming to UNLV in 2013, she worked at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN), where she held various student support positions, including academic advisor, retention and disability resources specialist, Transfer Center coordinator, and interim director of CSN’s Tutorial Services. Additionally, she has been teaching College and Life Success (ALS 101) classes at CSN since 2010.

In her native city of Warsaw, Poland, she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Business and Foreign Languages and a master’s in pedagogy from the Pedagogical University Jan Kochanowski in Kielce, Poland. In 2009, she graduated with a doctorate in educational leadership from UNLV. Her academic interests include higher education policy, international and comparative education systems, and quality assurance in higher education. In her private life, Jezierska enjoys spending time with her family and loves reading and making jewelry.
