Biography

Shawn Mines earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at Fielding Graduate University in Santa Barbara, CA, and completed an internship at Emory University CAPS. After internship, he completed a postdoctoral associateship at Yale University Mental Health and Counseling/Yale School of Medicine. He has also worked at a psychiatric hospital for children and adolescents. Shawn has a passion for treating college students. He considers the internal and external factors contributing to psychological and relational functioning, including race, culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, country of origin, geography, and positionality. He integrates cognitive-behavioral, family systems, and Black feminist thought/African-centered, Black psychology approaches. His clinical interests include anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, racial trauma, acculturative and other stress-related disorders.
