Biography

Shaquida Alexis Vergo was born and raised in California and moved to Las Vegas to obtain her B.A. in dance production management in 2012. Before transferring, she attended Cypress College in Cypress, CA. There she received her AA in dance with High Honors. She graduated from UNLV, Spring 2014, Cum Laude.

In addition to teaching at UNLV, she is also a paraprofessional at Thurman White Academy for the Performing Arts, choreographer and instructor for Boadway in the HOOD Las Vegas, and is a Teaching Artists for the Smith Center. She also teaches master classes for different high schools and middle schools throughout the valley.

Her training in dance began when she was 11. Her skills range from Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, Modern, Musical Theater, Middle Eastern, Afro-Caribbean, and Ballroom. In addition to choreographing and performing, she is also a lighting, sound, video, and costume designer. She is furthering her skills by continued technical training on stage, backstage, and in the classroom.
