Samuel Friend holds both a Bachelor of Arts in Music with a Minor in Music Technology at UNLV, and a Bachelor of Science in Communications at Dixie State University. His multifaceted background has lead him to a number of roles in the music industry ranging from composing music for Cirque du Soleil to mixing FOH as a live sound engineer.
With drums and percussion being his primary focus during his schooling, Samuel studied classical percussion under Dean Gronemeier and Tim Jones and awarded the “Outstanding Percussionist” Award in Fall 2016. As a drummer in the band Fever Red, he has shared the stage with bands such as the Smashing Pumpkins, Apocalyptica, and Nikki Sixx’s Sixx:A.M.
Samuel is the owner of Fire Drop Music, a music production group that specializes in creating music for visual content and live acts. He is also the head of Audio at Club Madrid in the Sunset Station Hotel & Casino, and in Fall 2017 began his teaching career at UNLV. Samuel teaches Recording Techniques 1 (MUS 231), Recording Techniques 2 (MUS 232), and Large Venue Sound Reproduction (MUS 435).
