Biography
Rob Miller transitioned to executive chairman of Oregon-based Trailblazer Food Products in April 2024 after a successful 24-year tenure as president & CEO.
While CEO, Miller spearheaded multiple facility upgrades and acquisitions that doubled production capacity to as much as 115 tons of product a day and grew sales by over 450%. In addition, he built a management team of experienced industry professionals.
Miller oversaw a team of approximately 60 employees, managing all aspects of the company’s operations. Under Miller’s guidance, Trailblazer Food Products has become one of the largest manufacturers of preserves, spreads, jellies, jams, table syrups, savory sauces, Italian syrups, drink mixes, fruit fillings and coconut products in the West; providing the highest quality products at the best value for private-label, retail, co-pack and wholesale customers.
Prior to joining Trailblazer Food Products, Miller rose through the ranks during a decade with Johnson & Johnson, holding a variety of management positions in multiple consumer products divisions. He managed sales administration for Johnson & Johnson*Merck and then led the Walmart team for two different J&J companies, managing over a $100mm business. Miller then helped to build a new consumer sales organization for Johnson & Johnson’s McNeil Nutritionals before being named director of customer marketing for McNeil Consumer Products.
Miller holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Texas Christian University and a master’s in international management from the Thunderbird School of International Management.
He serves on the board(s) of Miller Family Holdings, LLC (and affiliates), Trailblazer Fruit Products, Inc., and J. Frank Schmidt & Son (where he serves as chair of the Finance Committee). He is also the president of the Miller Family Foundation, an Idaho non-profit founded to enhance the lives of children and families. He also serves on the board of the Southern Nevada Salvation Army.
Rob was the past co-chair of the Capital Campaign to build a new business school at Portland State University and served on the board(s) of Portland Providence Medical Center Foundation (where he served as chair), West Hills Christian School (where he served as president), Meals on Wheels and the YMCA of Columbia-Willamette. Rob is also a member of the Young Presidents Organization (Gold), where he served as chapter chair.
Miller and his wife, Lynn, live in Las Vegas and McCall, ID. They have two sons. Their oldest, Pierce, attended Syracuse University where he lettered in cross country and track & field. He now works at a technology company in Boston. Grant, their youngest, played football at the College of Idaho and is now an MBA student at Pepperdine University.
