Paul's family moved to Las Vegas when he was five, and he very much considers Las Vegas home. Growing up, Paul aspired to be a professional UNLV basketball player and loved going to elementary school if only because George Dare's "Runnin' Rebel Fever" was played at least twice a day during UNLV's run to the basketball championship. Paul attended two universities out of state before finally coming to his senses and attending UNLV, where he received a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering under the direction of Tom Piechota. Paul worked for the Bureau of Reclamation and taught Introductory Hydrology courses at UNLV before accepting a promotion with the National Weather Service in Salt Lake City, Utah. While he likes his job, he's waiting for UNLV basketball to give him a call and let him coach and/or play for the team. He and his wife, fellow alum Jessica Miller, help coordinate the Salt Lake City UNLV regional network when they're not chasing around their two year old son, Isaac, Rebel class of 2037-ish.
