Biography

Patricia Suslo (MFA 2028) is a practicing multidisciplinary artist with a strong interest in drawing, printmaking, and writing. Her work investigates themes of autonomy and perception.

Autonomy, as defined by the Oxford Dictionary, refers to both “the right or condition of self-government” and “the capacity of an agent to act in accordance with objective morality, rather than under the influence of desires.” Through this lens, Suslo’s work engages with semiotics and concepts of isolation, the perceived self, and ownership through consumerism. She employs various techniques like subtractive drawing, silhouetting, and pattern to translate these themes into visual art. Today, Patricia is exploring her ability to reconcile her private and public life through the depiction of storage units and spaces that are otherwise concealed.

Suslo earned her bachelor of fine arts degree from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art in New York City, before returning home to Nevada to pursue her master of fine arts at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her work has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in New York and Las Vegas. She is excited to continue her work within Nevada’s artistic community as an artist and educator.
