Biography
Dr. Nikki Mobley joined the University of Nevada, Las Vegas School of Nursing in July 2023 as an Assistant Professor-in-Residence. She is a board-certified Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner with a diverse background in clinical practice, education, and entrepreneurship.
Before joining UNLV, Dr. Mobley served as the lead Nurse Practitioner at Las Vegas Bariatrics, where she managed patients throughout the bariatric surgery program. She also taught as Adjunct Nursing Faculty at the College of Southern Nevada, sharing her expertise with the next generation of nurses.
In addition to her academic and clinical roles, Dr. Mobley is the founder and owner of Elite Health and Wellness, a Las Vegas-based medical practice specializing in primary care and medical aesthetics.
Expertise
Dr. Mobley is an obesity medicine specialist whose clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner spans bariatrics, geriatrics, primary care, inpatient perioperative care, and home health. She has extensive expertise in managing patients throughout the weight-loss journey, including pre- and post-bariatric surgery care, metabolic health optimization, and long-term weight maintenance strategies.
Classes Taught
Over the past two years, Dr. Mobley has taught in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. Her undergraduate teaching experience includes Geriatrics, Nutrition, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology II, Community Clinical, and Complex Care Clinical. At the graduate level, she has taught Pathophysiology and Genetics I, Advanced Health Assessment Lab, and Nurse Practitioner Business and Roles. She has also led clinical courses for Family Nurse Practitioner students, including Adult and Women’s Health Clinical and Geriatric and Chronic Illness Clinical, and developed the curriculum for Midwifery IV: Primary Care, which she currently teaches.
Education Background
Dr. Mobley earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2018. She previously earned a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master of Science in Pathology Assistant from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science, and an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing from Alvin Community College.
Research or Scholarship
Dr. Mobley’s scholarly work centers on the prevention, treatment, and long-term management of overweight and obesity in adults, with additional interests in bariatric surgery care. She has presented locally and regionally, published in peer-reviewed nursing journals, and developed curriculum for advanced practice nursing education. In addition to her research and teaching, Dr. Mobley contributes to academic service as a member of the UNLV School of Nursing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee and Graduate Program Committee, and previously served on the University’s Graduate Awards Committee. Her professional service includes serving locally as the president of Eta Eta Eta Chapter and nationally as a member on the nominating committee of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated.
Awards, recognitions, and/or group affiliations
Dr. Mobley is an active member of numerous professional organizations, including the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, American Nurses Association, Nevada Nurses Association, Obesity Medicine Association, and Eta Eta Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated. Through these affiliations, she provides education, mentorship, and community service. She is also a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, serves on The Advisory Council on the State Program for Wellness and the Prevention of Chronic Disease, and is a Nevada Community Health Center Board Member.
Her professional achievements have been recognized through multiple awards, including the Mary E. Mahoney Nurse of the Year Award from Eta Eta Eta Chapter of Chi Eta Phi Sorority, Incorporated, the Stellar Nurse Award from the Nevada Nurses Foundation, the Eta Eta Eta Davis Leadership Award, Shining Stars of Nursing in Nevada 50 Under 50 from the Nevada Nurses Foundation, the University of Illinois at Chicago Chancellor’s Student Service Award, and the People’s Choice Award for Evidence-Based Practice Poster at the Advocate Nursing Research Symposium.
