Margaret “Missi” Trnka has been a lecturer and clinical instructor with the School of Nursing since Fall 2017. Margaret is currently the Dedicated Education Unit Coordinator for UNLV and the course coordinator for Maternal Health in the BSN undergraduate program. Her teaching experience includes Introduction to Professional Nursing, Fundamental Skills, Nursing Care of Women & Childbearing Families, and end of program preceptorship.
Margaret always strives to foster student engagement and student success in her teaching. Her current research focus is on improving student engagement in nursing education through the use of game-based learning.
Margaret earned her bachelors and masters in nursing education from Olivet Nazarene University in Bourbonnais, Illinois and is actively pursuing her doctorate in nursing education from St. Augustine Health Sciences University.
Margaret is a board member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society. She currently serves on the University Student Conduct Hearing Board, is a member of the University Academic Practice Partnership Task Force, Nevada Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, and Illinois Nurses Association.
