Biography
Miriam Kopels is a biological anthropologist specializing in human nutrition, food systems, and biocultural health. Her research examines how ecological change, market integration, and tourism reshape dietary patterns, food security, and resilience among the Hadzabe of northern Tanzania, using mixed-methods dietary assessment and community-based participatory research. She also studies resource insecurity and health among university students in the U.S., integrating critical biocultural perspectives with quantitative nutritional analysis. Across these projects, her work advances understanding of how social and environmental change becomes embodied through diet and health.
