Born and raised in Las Vegas, Marlon received both his bachelor’s degree in history with a minor in political science in 2009 and master’s degree in history in 2013 from UNLV. His fields of interests are in African American history, the Atlantic Slave Trade, U.S. political and presidential history, and U.S. foreign policy during the Vietnam War era. Before becoming the Assistant Director of Advising and RPC Management and Initiatives at the Honors College, Marlon worked as a senior academic advisor at the Wilson Advising Center at the UNLV College of Liberal Arts for more than seven years. He also taught first-year seminar courses for exploring majors and served as an academic success coach at the Academic Success Center. Marlon makes a concerted effort, everyday, to help each of his students discover their interests and cultivate their passions. When Marlon is not working towards these ends, you can catch him following up on political headlines, trying new food, and spending time with friends and family.
