Biography

Marla R. Goins earned her Ph.D. in teaching and learning and multicultural and equity studies in education from The Ohio State University. Her research interests include transnational Black education, Afro-Latina/o education, Black feminism in the Global South, culturally sustaining pedagogy, critical literacies, and approaches to academic mentoring. She utilizes qualitative methodologies to explore how peripheralized Black communities develop epistemologies and pedagogies of resistance in and out of schools. Additionally, she is interested in researching how to increase and sustain Black graduate students and teachers transnationally.
