Biography
Mark Buttner, Ph.D. is a Professor for the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health and the co-director of the Emerging Diseases Laboratory. His research is focused on sampling and analysis of airborne microorganisms, with emphasis on enhanced detection methods of airborne and surface-associated microorganisms that are potential human health risks in indoor environments. Dr. Buttner also conducts research involving healthcare-associated infections and antibiotic-resistant microorganisms of public health concern. He currently serves as an editor of the Manual of Environmental Microbiology and as a committee member for the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Ventilation for Acceptable Indoor Air Quality.
