Biography

Lyrissa Nicole (MFA 2028) is an interdisciplinary artist whose research-based practice examines how art can both critique and transcend systemic power structures, including those rooted in capitalism, white supremacy, and patriarchy. Working in sculpture, installation, and digital media, Lyrissa investigates how these systems shape corporate authority, militarization, and environmental impact, asking how collective healing and societal repair might emerge beyond these systems. Supported by the Ronald E. McNair Achievement Program and building on research in accessible and inclusive art practices, Lyrissa continually considers how art can engage diverse audiences. Lyrissa is a United States Navy veteran originally from Covina, CA, and holds associate degrees in Studio Arts and Visual Arts from Citrus College and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art: 3D and Extended Media from the University of Arizona.
