Leslie Jo (LJ) Shelton, Ph.D., is an associate professor in the higher education program in the Department of Educational Psychology, Leadership, and Higher Education. She joined the UNLV faculty after 12 years as a higher education faculty member and master's program coordinator at the University of Arkansas. Prior to her faculty career, she worked in a variety of student affairs roles at multiple institutions. She earned her Ph.D. in Higher, Adult, and Lifelong Education from Michigan State University and holds a bachelor's and master's degree from Ohio University.

Shelton's scholarship focuses on college student learning and development, with particular emphasis on fostering equity in postsecondary education. She enjoys teaching a range of courses and maintaining active engagement on journal editorial boards and in national professional organizations, including ACPA - College Student Educators International and ASHE - the Association for the Study of Higher Education.
