Biography

Senator Lauren Oliver is a music performance major studying violin under professor Weiwei Le, with a double major in economics. She hopes to pursue a career in economics or law. Her main goals for the College of Fine Arts is to start the first College of Fine Arts Dean's Student Advisory Council, as well as strengthen interrelations within majors in the Fine Arts College. Within CSUN, she is a part of the Scholarships and Grants Committee as well as the University Initiatives Committee. Under the University Initiatives Committee, she is a liaison for the Admissions Week as well as the Office of Student Support and Advocacy. She is excited to help organize food drives around campus to donate non-perishables to the food pantry, and support initiatives to enhance the UNLV experience. Within the College of Music, she is a violinist in the UNLV Symphony Orchestra and the UNLV Chamber Orchestra. This is also her 10th year as a member of the Shirley Linzy Young Artists Orchestra, and her 2nd being the concertmaster of the symphony orchestra. Lauren is also a small business owner making pipe-cleaner flowers. With this business, she sells at events around the city and hopes to be a vendor at First Friday this summer. Her goals for the future of CSUN is to make it more accessible to students, faculty, and visitors at UNLV. Many students are not aware of CSUN’s impact, and she hopes to increase CSUN awareness and engagement with students in every corner of the campus. She is excited to be a part of CSUN’s future and will try her best to constantly improve and grow with the goals of the university.
