Kim McGrath is a scholar practitioner serving as the Director of Board and Volunteer Relations in the Division of Philanthropy and Alumni Engagement at UNLV.  In this role she leads the volunteer engagement program and oversees the UNLV Alumni Association Board of Directors, individual College and School Alumni Chapters, and Affinity Clubs.

With prior experience in elementary and international education, program development, and community outreach, Kim brings a unique perspective and an innovative mindset to her position in alumni engagement.  She has worked with and served in leadership roles with the Association of International Educators (NAFSA), the Forum on Education Abroad, Diversity Abroad, Study Missouri, International Institute of Education (IIE), Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA), SUNY Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), and Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA); and as a founding Board member of the award-winning professional organization the Global Leadership League (the League).  Starting in August 2025, Kim is an elected member of Webster University’s Alumni Association Board.

Kim is a double alumni of Webster University, holding an Ed.D. in Transformative Learning (‘23), and a master’s in International Relations (‘08).  She holds a bachelor’s degree in Journalism with Spanish Concentration from Truman State University, where she also spent a semester abroad in London through Thames Valley University.  Her academic interests propelled a bilingual and international career including two years teaching in Peru; and extensive experiences with building programs and hosting events in the field of international education.

In addition to working in alumni engagement, Kim has developed a global immersion “unpacking study abroad course,” grounded in Transformative Learning, as a Capstone course for the Honors College and with travel to Costa Rica.  She is a St. Louis native living in Henderson, Nevada, with her husband who flies for Southwest Airlines, and their two dogs Gaia and June.
