Get To Know This Resident

Why did you choose the obstetrics and gynecology residency program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV?
I chose UNLV because, as it was my home program, I was able to see firsthand how close-knit and supportive the resident group is. They really do lift each other up and make even the most challenging days manageable. That sense of community, combined with the program’s strong family planning training and the opportunity to train alongside my fiancé, who is an emergency medicine resident here, made it the ideal place for me.

What are your interests within obstetrics and gynecology?
Hard to decide as I really enjoy every aspect of OB-GYN! Maternal mental health is especially important to me because it’s often under-recognized despite its profound impact on both the mother and child. I’m also drawn to pediatric and adolescent gynecology for the opportunity it offers to provide early, compassionate care and education.

What is your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?
Go on a hike to one of the local hot springs – Goldstrike Hot Springs and Arizona Hot Springs are two of my favorites.

What is one fun fact about you?
I have two cats named Yoda and Han Solo, but I’ve never actually seen Star Wars.

What is one piece of advice you would give to candidates interested in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program?
Take time to celebrate every accomplishment, and don’t be too hard on yourself. The application process is long and challenging, but you’ve got this!
