Biography
Kayla Lockwood (b. Orange County, CA) is a multidisciplinary artist based in Las Vegas, working across installation, sculpture, textiles, ceramics, film, and digital media. Her practice examines home as both a lived experience and an ideological construct, exploring how domestic spaces, architecture, and housing systems shape memory, identity, and belonging.
Drawing from domestic artifacts, family archives, architectural surfaces, and the built environment, Lockwood transforms familiar objects and materials to examine tensions between idealized notions of home and the social realities they often conceal. Her work considers how personal histories intersect with broader systems of labor, gender, housing, inequality, and the American Dream.
Lockwood has exhibited nationally and internationally and has performed at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with the CFACoLab. She earned a BFA in Art & Technology from the University of Oregon and an MFA in Art from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she currently teaches in the Graphic Design & Media Program. She is the founder of the Little Object Library and co-founder of the Las Vegas–based art collective CUT / CUTS.
