Kalin Sokell joined UNLV’s Office of Government and Community Engagement in January of 2024 as an extern assisting in government and community engagement, including financial- and athletic-related matters affecting UNLV. Sokell is currently studying to earn his Juris Doctor at the William S. Boyd School of Law, and Masters of Business Administration at the Less Business School, in addition to being a member of the Nevada Law Journal and on the board of UNLV’s Sports and Entertainment Law Association.

Sokell earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and media studies with a minor in communication from UNLV in 2020, making the dean’s list multiple times.

Prior to his externship, Sokell worked with the UNLV Athletics strategic communications team, along with other departments. He has a passion for sports law, including government work and giving back to the Las Vegas community. Sokell hopes to graduate with both his JD and MBA in May of 2025.
