Biography

Justin Jeffries, MD, was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. He attended Morehouse College on an academic scholarship where he studied biology. He earned his medical doctorate from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, and subsequently completed a postdoctoral program in medical education at the same institution. Dr. Jeffries completed his internal medicine residency and served as chief resident to the program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV where, post-residency, he also completed a pulmonary and critical care fellowship. During his time as a fellow, Dr. Jeffries was selected as chief fellow of the pulmonary and critical care program.

Additionally, he has served on multiple hospital committees including the Code Blue Committee, Space Committee, and was instrumental in creating the point of care ultrasound curriculum and simulation for the internal medicine program. He has particular medical interests in advanced lung disease management, and he has personal interests in community outreach and youth exposure to the medical field especially in underserved populations.

Dr. Jeffries competed in the Junior Olympics for track and field for three years straight and was a state finalist in the decathlon in the state of Tennessee. He also has a hobbyist background in film and video, placing first in the Atlanta University Center for his work on an independent short film. He had the pleasure of helping to organize and participate in a medical mission trip to Guyana during his medical school years.
