Biography

Juha Yoon, Ph.D., is an assistant professor in intercollegiate and professional sport management at UNLV. Her research centers on sport analytics, the application of AI and big data in sport management, and sport technology innovation. She has collaborated with leading industry partners on research projects and student engagement initiatives, with a strong emphasis on experiential learning that connects students to real-world challenges in the sport industry.

Dr. Yoon has presented her work at more than 40 academic conferences around the world, including in the U.S., Canada, England, Norway, Hungary, Germany, Sweden, Spain, Russia, and Korea. Prior to joining UNLV, she served as coordinator of the undergraduate, master’s, and interim doctoral programs in sport management at Indiana University Bloomington (IUB), where she also earned her M.S. and Ph.D. She also earned a master’s degree in data science from Indiana University’s Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering.

She has taught a wide range of courses, including Sport Analytics, International Sport Management, E-Sports Marketing, Sport Communication, and Managing Mega Sport Events.

Dr. Yoon is a recipient of the 2022 Indiana University Trustees Teaching Award and has served as principal investigator for several competitive research grants, including those from the North American Society for Sport Management (NASSM), the Korean American Association for Sport Management (KAASM), and the Paul R. Lawrence Fellowship from the North American Case Research Association (NACRA). She currently serves on the editorial board of the International Journal of Sport Communication.
