Business Development Officer
John Minnick serves as the Business Development Officer in the Office of Technology Transfer and Economic Development for UNLV’s Division of Research & Economic Development
In this capacity Minnick manages the technology development and commercialization of innovations produced through UNLV’s Knowledge Fund grants, which were provided by the state with the goal of leveraging the university’s research successes to stimulate regional economic development. This includes innovations being produced by UNLV’s new Nevada Institute for Personalized Medicine, which was established with a Knowledge Fund grant.
In addition Minnick manages the identification, assessment, protection, development, and commercialization of health care-related innovations and technologies developed at UNLV.
Prior to joining UNLV, Minnick founded and managed a consulting group that provided technology development, marketing, and commercialization services to university technology transfer offices and early-stage technology companies. He worked for eight years in academic technology transfer at both the University of Utah and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
