Biography

Jiemin Bao is professor of anthropology at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She received her doctoral degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Her first book, Marital Acts: Gender, Sexuality, and Identity among the Chinese Thai Diaspora, was published by the University of Hawaii Press in 2005. In 2008, Bao co-edited a special issue of Ethnology on polygyny (Volume 47, No. 3). Her second book, Creating a Buddhist Community: A Thai Temple in Silicon Valley, was published by Temple University Press in 2015.
