Biography

J.T. Gurzi was born in the American Southwest and raised along the Eastern Sierra Nevada Mountains. He is a multidisciplinary filmmaker with over 20 years of experience across numerous aspects of the motion picture, television, and commercial industries. Gurzi is a distinguished graduate of the UCLA Theatre, Film & Television MFA Screenwriting program, and a Panavision "New Filmmaker" program recipient for his directorial debut. He notably co-created and produced the documentary Heaven Adores You -- an intimate and meditative inquiry into the life and music of Elliott Smith (Universal/Mercury Studios). In addition, he most recently directed ‘Boom Boom’ for Jenny Lee (Rough Trade Records) and produced a star laden "Got Your Six" public service announcement (PSA) honoring returning military veterans. His below-the-line screen credits include Academy Award winning films and Emmy Award winning shows. He is a member of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE) and Producers Guild of America (PGA) qualified. Gurzi is currently developing a boutique slate of screenplays with prestige Hollywood companies.
