Biography

Jason “Jay” Hughes, who worked as a registered nurse and nurse practitioner in England, is the coordinator for two family medicine programs and also serves as the coordinator for the sports medicine fellowship program in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Family and Community Medicine.

Born in South Wales, UK, Hughes trained as a registered nurse in Cardiff in 1990 before moving to London and working in neurosurgery. From there, he moved into magazine publishing, and the hospitality industry, before returning to nursing in 2003. He went on to become a nurse practitioner in sexual health at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, London, working alongside and supporting newly-qualified doctors in a nurse-led clinic before relocating to the United States in 2014.

Hughes joined the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine in 2019, shortly after moving to Las Vegas. He has a passion for clinical education and a desire to help the medical school produce the most experienced, well-rounded clinicians possible.
