Biography
Jason Beatty is an award-winning audio producer, broadcaster, and media innovator with more than 25 years of experience in commercial and public radio. Since 2021, he has served as operations manager for 91.5 KUNV at UNLV, overseeing programming, production, student development, and content strategy across the station’s FM and HD2 platforms. Under his leadership, KUNV has been nominated four times for Local Radio Station of the Year within his first five years.
Beatty also leads UNLV’s rapidly expanding podcast network as executive producer, developing nationally syndicated content—including The Weekend Smooth Jazz Countdown—as well as top-100 podcasts such as Live From Vic’s Las Vegas and Artists to Watch Las Vegas. He additionally oversees a growing slate of student-hosted shows, including UNLV Box Seats, College Speaks, and others.
As an adjunct professor in the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies, Beatty teaches audio production, podcasting and storytelling, and audio announcing. He is known for his hands-on, immersive teaching style that equips students with industry-ready broadcast and podcast skills for top-market careers.
Before joining UNLV, Beatty spent two decades in commercial radio, holding leadership roles at CBS Radio, iHeartMedia, and several radio and television stations in the Caribbean. He has hosted, coached, and produced top-rated morning shows, managed multi-station clusters, and created audio content for national brands and major advertising agencies. Beyond radio, he has appeared as on-air talent for both radio and television, performed on stage (Footloose the Musical, 2017), and acted in national commercials for brands such as Subway and Pepsi. His work has received multiple industry recognitions, including finalist honors from the Mercury Radio Awards.
Beatty is a pioneer in AI-assisted audio production and talent development, using advanced voice-cloning technology to scale creator content into endlessly producible podcast formats. His graduate research at UNLV explores how artificial intelligence can enhance—not replace—human creativity in radio broadcasting. In 2025, he was awarded the prestigious Tony Ferri Memorial Scholarship, fully funding his postgraduate studies.
He continues to shape the future of audio at the intersection of education, technology, and storytelling—advancing UNLV’s mission to lead in media innovation while supporting the next generation of creators.
