Heather Thompson, Ph.D., is a licensed psychologist and a nationally certified school psychologist (NCSP) with specialized training in evidence-based assessment and intervention for children, adolescents, and families. Thompson earned her Ph.D. in school psychology from UNLV, where her research focused on teacher perceptions of the implementation of restorative justice practices in schools. Her clinical experiences include supporting children, adolescents, and their families who have anxiety and mood disorders, experienced trauma, and have neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism spectrum disorder and ADHD. She also is experienced in completing comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological assessment and has extensive experience providing services across school, community mental health, private practice, and interdisciplinary clinical settings. Thompson teaches and supervises doctoral students across assessment, intervention, practicum training, and internship preparation.

Thompson’s research interests include implementation of culturally-responsive, evidence-based interventions across clinical and school settings, graduate training climate, and systems-level approaches to supporting children and families. She has contributed to the field through national presentations, peer-reviewed scholarship, participation in professional organizations, and service on editorial boards for national psychology journals. Thompson is passionate about training future psychologists to provide compassionate, collaborative, culturally responsive, and evidence-based care that meets the diverse needs of children, families, and communities across Nevada and beyond.
