Biography

Dr. Hassan Ziada joined UNLV School of Dental Medicine in January of 2019, and currently teaches periodontics and implant dentistry. He is also involved with preclinical teaching and training in all aspects of restorative dentistry, prosthodontics and comprehensive dental care.

Dr. Ziada developed an extensive career in education, research, and service, and his contribution to dental education has been in various regions of the world, with a track record of publication in dental research.

He worked full-time in clinical and dental education at preclinical, clinical and postgraduate education levels since his graduation in 1983, where he worked in Academic Dentistry across four continents. He began his academic career working at the University of Khartoum in Sudan and then moved to the Queen's University of Belfast, where he obtained his PhD in 1991, at the Department of Restorative Dentistry, School of Clinical Dentistry.

Dr. Ziada completed a specialist clinical training and successfully attained the intercollegiate (the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in England, Scotland and Ireland) board in Restorative Dentistry (November 1999), and was awarded the Intercollegiate Fellowship (Exit) in Restorative Dentistry. As a result, he gained entry into the specialist register with the General Dental Council of the United Kingdom in Restorative Dentistry, Periodontics and Prosthodontics Specialties.

Dr. Ziada completed a postgraduate diploma in teaching learning in higher education from the National University of Ireland, University College Cork in Ireland. He has been accredited as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy of the United Kingdom. He has also been endorsed as a Fellow of the International College of Dentists, USA.

Dr. Ziada worked as a Senior Academic at the School of Dentistry, University College Cork, Ireland and later at the Faculty of Dentistry, Kuwait University, where he also served as Chairman of the Department of General Dental Practice.

His research covers many aspects of dentistry and dental education and also collaborating research internationally. He is a reviewer for several journals and a member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Dentistry.
