Biography

Fred Sattler is an instructor in the Hank Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies, where he draws on more than three decades of experience in media strategy, advertising agency management, and marketing consulting.

Prior to joining UNLV, Sattler was a media agency executive who directed strategy and media investments for brands including Hyundai/Kia, DaimlerChrysler, Levi's, and Charles Schwab. At Omnicom's PHD, he directed all media activities for DaimlerChrysler and served as U.S. president of PHDiQ, the company's first digital media unit. Earlier in his career, TBWA\Chiat\Day named him the nation's first media strategist, a role that integrated media planning and consumer research with creative development. On the advertiser side, he led media strategy for two Silicon Valley startups.

As a consultant, Sattler has advised companies and industry organizations including Amgen, T-Mobile, Yahoo, and the Association of National Advertisers on agency relationships, contracts, processes, and media investment auditing.

His industry recognition includes being named a Media Maven by Advertising Age for his role in doubling Hyundai/Kia's market share. He has served on the Cannes Media Lions International Jury and chaired the Advertising Research Foundation's International Media Research Symposium.
