Biography

Francesca Kassing most recently served as associate professor and director of clinical training in the APA-accredited clinical psychology PsyD program at Alliant University in Fresno, California and brings extensive experience in clinical training leadership to UNLV’s PsyD program. She earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology, with a concentration in clinical child, from the University of Alabama. She has expertise in trauma-focused treatment, having completed specialty postdoctoral training in the trauma and grief track at Texas Children’s Hospital and published extensively in this area.

Kassing’s background spans academic leadership, clinical supervision, and program development, along with a strong research portfolio focused on suicide prevention, culturally responsive adaptations of evidence-based treatments, and the examination of mental health and trauma among gender-diverse populations. Her teaching experience includes instructing doctoral courses on psychotherapy skills, clinical supervision, and evidence-based treatment for trauma, along with serving as a dissertation chair and committee member for over 30 students. She has also held roles in university counseling centers and pediatric medical settings, bringing a wealth of experience in both training and applied clinical work.
