Biography
Fatemeh is currently the senator for the college of engineering while pursuing her B.S. in mechanical engineering. She is a member of university initiative and scholarships & grants committees. She is highly passionate to represent engineering students in UNLV student government. Previously, she served the UNLV campus for 3 years in various roles such as mechanical engineering tutor, engineering front desk manager, data specialist, and undergraduate research assistant. This where she engaged with a lot of students and observed areas of improvement. She is committed to amplifying the undergraduate student's voices and helping to provide resources needed for student retention, engagement, and success.
She is a strong advocate for women in STEM and people from under-represented groups. As the Engineering senator, she would highly consider diversity and inclusion when it comes to improving our college and community.
She has experience conducting research at the Southern Nevada Water Authority as a climate change intern where she developed technical writing and statistical analysis. In her role as the undergraduate research assistant at Active Material and Smart Living Laboratory, she worked on developing a soft submarine robot to model a so-called “Fish Robot”. Her second project was to explore “Heat transfer enhancement in solar power plants by fabricating a hydrophobic surface on copper to increase dropwise condensation. She has pioneered FE exam prep courses, coordinated student conferences, increased student retention rates, and understating of mathematics in my role as the president for ASHRAE UNLV.
