Biography
Emily Janes, PhD is an assistant professor in the Couple and Family Therapy Program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV.
Janes's research focuses on religion, spirituality, and clinical training. She is interested in the impacts of faith transitions on identity, relationships, and overall wellbeing, as well as improving therapeutic treatment for those in this population. Additionally, Janes researches clinical training with the goal of improving the training student therapists receive to benefit the community at large.
Her current projects explore: how families maintain relationships after religious disaffiliation, how interfaith parents approach conversations about religion/spirituality with their children, and how therapists approach topics of religious doubt and disaffiliation in therapy.
