Elias A. Marquez-Aguirre was born in Durango, Mexico, and immigrated to the U.S at three years old. He has lived in Las Vegas for over twenty years. Currently, he is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on Emergency Management. Elias is intrigued by the research behind Tourism Safety and Crowd Science because he knows Las Vegas is a high tourist destination and continues to add major venues to its entertainment portfolio. After graduation in Spring 2022, Elias will pursue his master’s degree in Emergency Management at UNLV to strengthen his impact towards making the Las Vegas casino corridor a safer tourist destination. Following his master’s degree, Elias will be applying to The Department of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) section, with the goal of becoming a Federal Special Agent.
