Biography

Visiting associate professor Douglas Ashman initially joined UNLV School of Dental Medicine in 2003, teaching as a part-time and, later, full-time faculty member for eight years. He rejoined the school full-time during 2021 after serving as a faculty member for 10 years at Roseman University in South Jordan, Utah. He currently teaches in the pre-doctoral program. 

Dr. Ashman earned his bachelor’s at Brigham Young University, and his doctor of dental surgery degree and certificate in prosthodontics from Emory University in Atlanta. He began working in a private dental office before receiving a commission in the United States Navy Dental Corps where he served for seven years. After the Navy he returned to private practice, eventually opening his own office in 2001. In 2008, during his first tenure at UNLV School of Dental Medicine, students named him the department of Clinical Sciences’ Professor of the Year.

Dr. Ashman is a member of OKU Dental Honor Society and the American College of Prosthodontists; a fellow of the American College of Dentists; and past president of the Utah Section of the American College of Prosthodontists.
