Dory Mizrachi, Ph.D. is an assistant professor-in-residence in the Department of Criminal Justice at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where she serves as program director and graduate coordinator for the Emergency and Crisis Management (ECM) Master’s Program in the Greenspun College of Urban Affairs. A three-time UNLV graduate, she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in criminal justice and her Ph.D. in Public Affairs from UNLV.

Mizrachi’s academic and professional interests reflect a commitment to public service, education, and community engagement. Her research focuses on intimate partner violence, victim advocacy, repeat victimization, and police policy. In the classroom, she is dedicated to creating meaningful educational experiences that connect academic knowledge with the complex challenges faced by practitioners and communities.

As director of the ECM Master’s Program, Mizrachi oversees the program’s academic and administrative operations and works closely with students, faculty, university leadership, and community partners. Her leadership emphasizes collaboration, inclusiveness, accountability, and student success. She is particularly committed to strengthening connections between higher education and the emergency and crisis management profession and to providing students with opportunities to learn directly from experienced practitioners and leaders in the field.

Throughout her career at UNLV, Mizrachi has contributed to a wide range of academic, administrative, and community initiatives. Her experience includes developing and coordinating professional events, educational programs, guest lectures, and intensive weekend learning sessions involving diverse constituent groups and complex logistical planning. She has also contributed to the work of the Department of Criminal Justice and the Center for Crime and Justice Policy, including the development of research briefs, statistical publications, and departmental outreach and promotional materials.

Beyond her work at UNLV, Mizrachi is actively engaged in Nevada’s professional, legal, and civic communities. She serves as chief editor for Our Nevada Judges, contributing to the organization’s efforts to promote public understanding of Nevada’s judiciary and legal system. She also serves on multiple committees for the State Bar of Nevada, where she contributes her academic, research, and professional experience to initiatives supporting the legal profession and the broader Nevada community. In addition, Mizrachi serves as administrator for the FBI Las Vegas Citizens Academy Alumni Association, supporting its mission of strengthening relationships among law enforcement, alumni, and the Southern Nevada community. Together, these roles reflect her longstanding commitment to public service, civic engagement, education, advocacy, and collaboration across professional disciplines.

A native Las Vegan, Mizrachi maintains deep ties to both UNLV and the Southern Nevada community. She earned both of her graduate degrees while raising her son, an experience that has profoundly shaped her commitment to mentorship, resilience, and expanding educational opportunities for students. For Mizrachi, UNLV is more than her alma mater; it is a community that has shaped her both personally and professionally. She remains dedicated to giving back through education, leadership, mentorship, and service, while helping students recognize their own potential and translate their education into meaningful contributions to their professions and communities.
