Biography
At the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Department of Family and Community Medicine, David Glenn Weismiller, MD, ScM, serves as a leading professor, shaping the future of family medicine through his nationally and internationally recognized contributions to student and physician education and as an active clinician with a busy practice.
For nearly three decades, Dr. Weismiller has been instrumental in advancing continuing medical education, notably through his leadership in the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP)'s 'Board Review Express Course Series' (since 2005) and its Annual Family Medicine Update (since 2010). He is a highly influential speaker and presenter, sharing vital insights on wellness and prevention, empowering the patient voice, comprehensive women’s health, and compassionate gender-affirming care.
Dr. Weismiller's profound expertise is built upon a distinguished academic journey, including an MD degree from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University, his family medicine residency at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center where he served as chief resident, and a specialized fellowship in maternal child health coupled with a graduate degree in epidemiology from Brown University. With over 30 years dedicated to clinical excellence and educational innovation, he embodies the ideal of a clinician-scholar.
His impactful research and scholarship are dedicated to improving patient outcomes and medical education, covering critical areas such as preconception health, smoking cessation in pregnancy, innovative perinatal education, curriculum design, gender-affirming healthcare advancements, reflective problem-based learning, and comprehensive faculty development.
