Biography
Dan Bubb received his M.A. in history (2001) from UNLV, and his interdisciplinary Ph.D. in history and political science (2011) from the University of Missouri, Kansas City. He is a former commercial pilot who has published articles on commercial aviation and airport histories in a variety of academic journals and magazines, and teaches courses related to those fields. Bubb is a nationally and internationally sought expert in commercial aviation, and has done interviews with national and global media including The New York Times, London Times, Newsweek, Forbes, the Canadian Broadcasting Company, and The National Desk, among others.
Bubb advises multiple registered student organizations at UNLV including Alpha Epsilon Delta, the pre-professional American Medical Student Organization, Project Wellness, the Literate Earth Project, the UNLV Muslim Student Association, and the UNLV Model United Nations. In 2022, he was named Registered Student Organization Advisor of the Year, and in 2023, Faculty of the Month by Pearson Publisher for excellence in teaching. In 2012, Bubb published his book, Landing in Las Vegas: Commercial Aviation and the Making of a Tourist City (University of Nevada Press). He is currently working on a video series with a supplemental book on aviation in the West.
