Biography

I completed my doctoral degree in sociology from UNLV in 2004. My B.A. and Master’s are in Anthropology from UCLA. After a 25 year career in information systems working primarily in financial applications for local governments, I changed careers into academia in 2003. I also teach or have taught women’s studies and/or sociology at UNLV, CSN, NSC and University of Phoenix. My areas of interest are in the arts, history, gender, globalization, cultural studies, celebrity studies, and cultural change. When not doing “school stuff,” I am a quilter, sing with the local Sweet Adelines barbershop chorus, and get out of Las Vegas and into nature as often as possible.
