Dr. Johansen's research interests are focused on Latino health, health disparities and chronic diseases (e.g., obesity, cancer, diabetes) among racial and ethnic minority populations. He has a new pilot grant funded by NIH/NCI/Geographic Management of Cancer Health Disparities Program (GMaP). It is a qualitative study to understand the impact of parental acculturation on their preschool-aged child's health behaviors among Latinos in Southern California.
