Chris Peters, CPA
Adjunct Professor
Biography
Chris Peters is a part-time instructor in the Department of Accounting at the Lee Business School. Peters earned a Master of Business Taxation (MBT) from the University of Southern California’s Leventhal School of Accounting and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in both Nevada and California.
Professionally, Peters spent more than seven years with KPMG, where he specialized in Research & Development (R&D) tax credits and worked with companies ranging from early-stage startups to Fortune 500 organizations. During his time at KPMG, he also served as the local tax recruiting lead, worked closely with the UNLV Accounting program, and had the opportunity to guest speak in several accounting classes. Today, Peters is the founder and principal of R&D Tax Advisors, where I help technology and innovation-focused companies navigate complex tax incentives.
Teaching has always been something Peters has enjoyed. Before his accounting career, he founded and operated an English tutoring business in South Korea, where he developed curriculum and taught students for several years. Whether it's in the classroom, mentoring young professionals, or speaking with students about career opportunities, Peters enjoys helping others learn and grow.
Outside of work, Peters enjoys golf (sometimes), soccer (especially Liverpool FC), traveling, investing, cooking, and finding great local restaurants.
