Celia Langford
Graduate Assistant, MFA
Biography
Celia Langford is a fiction writer, poet, and translator currently pursuing her MFA in creative writing at University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Her creative work is eternally curious about time, distance, barriers of language, and differences of perception — those slippery boundaries which often appear to separate people from one another, and yet may, at any given moment, shrink to the slenderest of margins. Celia’s academic background is in Asian Studies, in which she holds a bachelor’s degree from Whitman College and a master’s degree from University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. Her creative work is often informed by her knowledge of Japanese and Mandarin languages, her study of art and literature, and her experiences living in different parts of Japan. As a graduate assistant, Celia serves as a consultant in the Writing Center, where she enjoys working with and serving the larger UNLV community.
