Get To Know This Resident

Why did you choose the obstetrics and gynecology residency program at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV?
I did an away rotation through the Air Force at UNLV/Nellis AFB, and I quickly fell in love with the program and the people. From the residents to the attendings to the staff at the hospital to the didactic lectures on Fridays to the medical students to the patients … I felt welcomed and encouraged to push myself to learn and grow as a provider. Another huge draw to the program for me was how they valued me as a person and my family. I’m so excited to be a part of this program!

What are your interests within obstetrics and gynecology?
Right now, I don’t have a specific fellowship in mind as I love all aspects of general OB-GYN care. I know that as I go through my education this may change, and I look forward to learning and discovering who I want to be as an OB-GYN. I do particularly love delivering babies.

What is your favorite thing to do in Las Vegas?
My partner and I drove up to the mountains and enjoyed a picnic and a view of the beautiful scenery of the Las Vegas desert. I look forward to many more opportunities to explore the city and surrounding area!

What is one fun fact about you?
I trekked on the Annapurna trail in Nepal and rode on a plane to see Mount Everest. It was the most beautiful place I’ve ever been.

What is one piece of advice you would give to candidates interested in the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program?
You’re not expected to have the most knowledge or the most accolades… be genuinely you, and if you get to do an audition interview, be as helpful as you can be. Get the ultrasound machine when a new laborer comes in to check a baby’s position, take a good history from triage patients, push with your patients, get supplies for procedures when you can, know your resident’s glove size and grab them for them… anything you can do to make their lives easier!
