Candyann Humphries
Residency Program Coordinator, Department of Internal Medicine
Biography
Candyann Humphries is an award-winning residency program coordinator with over 25 years of administrative experience and more than six years in graduate medical education at the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV. She currently serves as the residency program coordinator for the department of internal medicine, a role she assumed in September 2025 after previously supporting the department of otolaryngology - head & neck surgery’s residency program since May 2019. Across both programs, she has led complex operations, including recruitment, scheduling, duty-hour monitoring, accreditation support, and large-scale academic events such as resident graduations and conferences. Humphries is known for developing sophisticated, multi-tab budget and tracking tools that provide leadership with real-time insight into funding, compliance, and program metrics. Her commitment to accuracy, transparency, and continuous improvement has earned institutional recognition, including being named UNLV’s Classified Employee of the Year in 2024 for exceptional service, innovation, and reliability.
Beyond her operational expertise, Humphries is widely regarded as the heart of the programs she serves. She invests deeply in resident and faculty well-being — creating welcoming spaces, organizing thoughtful celebrations, and serving as a steady, compassionate point of contact during stressful rotations and life events. She designs user-friendly resources and automated workflows that not only streamline processes but also reduce administrative burden for trainees and colleagues, reflecting her belief that systems should serve people — not the other way around. Nationally, she has been active in the Otolaryngology Program Coordinator Organization (OPCO) and was selected to serve on its board for the 2025-2027 term, stepping down when she transitioned to internal medicine. Colleagues describe her as meticulous yet approachable, calm under pressure, and genuinely invested in others’ success — qualities she brings to every interaction, grounded in a rich family life and a deep personal commitment to kindness, service, and community.
